Following a diet and exercise regime wasn’t easy for him, but he knew patience, hard work and punctuality would finally help him the shed the excess kilos. He also followed his diet religiously and dropped from 116 kilos to 64 kilos.

The turning point: I was always a”healthy child” (Indian definition of the match for obese ), and that always kept me away from focusing on my health. Not to mention, I didn’t need to look fit. However, the turning point was when I came to understand that I’d grown hormonal imbalance and high blood pressure. That’s when I decided to stage a war against my self, committed to winning this time.

My diet: Dieting was not simple for me. My first approach was to mindlessly cut down food, and without realising, I was depleting myself from significant nutrients. I’d feel hungry all of the time. My diet includes high protein, low carbohydrates and medium perfect fats.

Before breakfast Half a litre of detox water which includes cucumber, brinjal, lemon and mint.

Breakfast: Six boiled egg whites one to two whole wheat bread slices with homemade peanut butter and cold-pressed juice or soy milk.

Two hours after lunch: Greek yoghurt + four to six dried fruits such as almonds and walnut.

Dinner: Grilled chicken breast with raw veggies such as lettuce, celery and cucumber.

My work: Unlike most people, I did not start gymming straight away. Instead, I began with Artistic Yoga, which helped me reduce my blood pressure and simultaneously helped me to discard 14 kilos in 4 months.

I did lots of strength training initially because losing weight can make your skin loose. I gained muscle fat and then worked on shedding the remainder of my excess fat. Cardio, HIIT and core training were part of everyday routine.

Low-calorie recipes: I avert oil just as much as I can. If I have to use, I choose olive oil over some other oil.
